Couch Surfing

My trip to Brussels was very interesting for sure.  While it is not the first time that I've slept on a couch, it definitely is the first time that I've used  To sleep in a stranger's house for a few days while exploring a new country can be a very intimidating experience.  However my host, Gio, was very patient and gracious.  Also, even though we didn't know each other, we did have a mutual friend.  This did alleviate some fears I had about my first experience couch surfing.

While couch surfing still might be a hotly debated topic, I would suggest that it is relatively safe.  Some ideas to keep in mind while choosing a host might be that they have positive reviews, they share similar interests, or they are in similar age range.  I would venture to say if you use these parameters, it would lessen your risk for unwelcome experiences.  However, I do stress that while I had an extremely positive experience I cannot guarantee that you will too.  I know that I will definitely do more couch surfing in the future though.
